Languages Day

This week we celebrated our love of language with a day for all pupils dedicated to activities involving global languages.  After an online assembly with clips of some of our bilingual pupils introducing themselves in their other languages, pupils enjoyed quizzes, orienteering, stories, songs, lessons and greetings in many languages including Afrikaans, Dutch, Mandarin, Greek, Setswana and Russian. Year 7 and 8 pupils put together teaching videos of various languages including Punjabi, Farsi and Italian for the younger pupils to enjoy, and Penny in Year 1 shared a story of the Three Little Pigs in Russian.  There was also a languages careers talk for Years 7 and 8 and a lesson for Year 5 on the different representations of animal sounds in different languages!  Reception enjoyed Jingle Bells in French, Swedish and Russian!
