Weekly Round Up 30th January

Dear Parents

I hope this message finds you well.

It has been another vibrant and inspiring fortnight at The Prep. Thank you to everyone who helped make
our Burns Night celebration such a joyful and memorable occasion – the sense of community was palpable,
and it was wonderful to see so many families embracing the spirit of Rabbie Burns together.
Today we marked Parent Mental Health Day, thoughtfully organised by Mrs Hougham, and I hope many of
you will join Mr Wilkins for his Family Wellbeing Walk on 28th February – a lovely opportunity to enjoy the
outdoors and connect with others across our school community.

We are exceptionally proud of our Year 6 pupils, who have already achieved an impressive range of
academic and sports scholarships, with a few destination schools yet to publish their results. We will share
the full list once all outcomes are confirmed.

Our singers had a truly memorable experience performing at Young Voices at The O2, and I would like to
congratulate all our musicians who have recently passed their instrumental gradings. On the sports field,
our rugby and netball teams continue to shine, and our chess team delivered outstanding performances in
a recent tournament against Russell House. I also enjoyed watching some of our younger pupils training at
our Chelsea-run football club – their enthusiasm, teamwork and developing tactical understanding were
fantastic to see.

Looking ahead, our Year 6 pupils are eagerly preparing for their residential trip to Paris next week. We
know they will have a remarkable adventure, and I hope they return with wonderful memories – and
improved French speaking skills! The rest of us will be cheering them on from school, albeit a little
enviously.

Best wishes

Luke Harrison

Dear Parents,

There continues to be a wonderful buzz of learning and excitement across Pre-Prep. It
has been a real pleasure to spend time in classrooms and see the children so deeply engaged in their topics.

Reception have been incredibly busy with their dinosaur learning and I have loved watching them immerse
themselves so wholeheartedly in this theme. From imaginative play to thoughtful discussions and creative
work, the children have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm, bringing their learning to life in such a joyful
way.

Year 1 have started their new ‘Superhero’ topic brilliantly. Their Hook Day was a delight, with the children
arriving dressed as their own invented superheroes, each with a clear sense of identity and purpose. I
particularly enjoyed reading their writing about their chosen superhero for the day and the special powers
they could bring to help others. It was a wonderful example of creativity, confidence and developing
independence.

Year 2 certainly made their presence known on Hook Day, which was slightly louder than usual but
thoroughly enjoyable, as they took part in an African Drumming Day. The children were completely
absorbed in the rhythms and energy of the experience, and it has been a fantastic starting point for their
new topic. I am very much looking forward to seeing how their learning develops over the coming weeks.
Looking ahead to next week, Mrs Rowland, Mrs Mott and I will be away on residential with the Year 6
children. While we are away, Mrs Wake will be overseeing Pre-Prep and ensuring that everything
continues to run smoothly. I am grateful, as always, for the strong teamwork within the Pre-Prep staff,
which means the children remain happy, supported and settled.

Thank you, as ever, for your continued support. It is a joy to see the children thriving and approaching the
end of term with such enthusiasm.

Best wishes,

Helen Cook
