Weekly Round up 20th June

Dear Parents

I hope you are all well.

We heard recently that all of our Year 7 pupils who sat for Year 9 places at Sevenoaks School have been offered places – this is a wonderful achievement and adds to the impressive results our pupils have earned over the course of the year.  We will, of course, publish our list of destination schools towards the end of this term.

I wanted to take a moment say a huge “well done” to all our athletes who took part in the Independent School District Athletics competition last week – you all did yourselves, and Sevenoaks Prep, proud.  Huge congratulations to Charlotte, Cora, Wilkie and William for qualifying for the National Finals in Birmingham in early July – we wish you every success.

The end of this week brings our Sports Day events, with Pre-Prep on Friday and Prep on Saturday – please note the new timings for these days as set out in Thursday’s email.  The sun will be shining on both days – so please remember lots of sunscreen and water.  We are looking forward to some exciting athletics and a wonderful family day.

Over the course of the next few weeks there will be music concerts and drama productions, bringing plenty of opportunity for our pupils to shine on stage and entertain us with their skill and enthusiasm.

Year 8 pupils have just returned from their residential trip to Sussex as part of their post-Common Entrance timetable.  Year 5 are heading off on their overnight trip to Oxfordshire next week; I am sure they will have a wonderful experience!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the final stretch of what has been an incredibly busy and joyful term, the glorious sunshine has brought an extra sparkle to the days here in Pre-Prep.  The children have been making the most of the lovely weather, and it has been a delight to see their energy and enthusiasm across all areas of school life.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our Pre-Prep parents for your flexibility and understanding with the revised timings of our Sports Days today.  With the extremely hot weather this week, we made the decision to adapt the events to ensure the children’s wellbeing and comfort, and your support has been greatly appreciated.

I am very much looking forward to watching Nursery and Kindergarten in their Mini Sports Day and Grand Prix events – always a highlight filled with colour, excitement, determination and endless smiles.  Our older children will also be a colourful sight in their house T-shirts, showcasing wonderful teamwork and sportsmanship in their fun-filled team events.  It promises to be a fantastic celebration of all their physical development this year.

Throughout the school, the sound of summer has been ringing out in the most musical way!  I have been absolutely captivated by the wonderful singing drifting through the corridors, classrooms and – this week – the playing fields, as rehearsals for next week’s summer shows gather pace.  We are in for a real extravaganza, and I know the children cannot wait to share their performances with you.

Behind the scenes, I have been working closely with our Pre-Prep Leadership Team and Subject Co-ordinators to reflect on the year and plan ahead.  We are thrilled with our strong data in English and Maths, which shows our children performing well above national averages across the board.  This is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the resilience and curiosity of our young learners.

We are equally excited about the year ahead and have been busy planning some rich, challenging and engaging learning experiences for all year groups.  We look forward to sharing more details with you, including some dates for some subject specific parent information sessions in September, very soon.
