Dear Parents
I hope you are all well.
We had a wonderful Grandparents and Loved Ones Day on the Friday before half term. The sun shone on us as we welcomed our highest ever number of visitors for this annual event. It was lovely to meet so many of the special people in the pupils’ lives and hear reflections on their own educational journeys.
I know full well that this final part of the school year is always busy and we began our preparations for Sports Day with athletic afternoons for our Years 3 to 8 pupils this week. Year 8 finished their Common Entrance examinations and can now enjoy their final few weeks of time together at The Prep as they embark on their post-examination timetable and prepare for House Drama at the end of term. It is an exciting time for our eldest pupils and certainly one that my own children look back on as a formative part of their school lives!
Golf Day was a tremendous success earlier in May and there are many events planned between now and the end of term for parents to attend – I hope that you will be able to join us for some of these over the coming weeks. (Further information is available on the school portal showing dates and timings.)
Here’s to a busy, enjoyable and rewarding few weeks!
Best wishes
Luke Harrison
Dear Parents,
As we begin the final term of the academic year, and with teachers fully immersed in report writing, I’ve taken a moment to reflect on all the incredible learning and growth that has taken place. I feel truly fortunate to be part of a school where our children benefit from such a rich array of experiences and opportunities.
The final week of last term was particularly special, featuring Grandparents and Loved Ones Day, the Year 1 and Year 2 music concerts, and our joyful Maypole celebrations. We were lucky with the weather, which allowed us to showcase our beautiful school in the sunshine. The children shone brightly at each event, proudly demonstrating their talents and hard work. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making these occasions so memorable, and to all our families for your continued support—it means so much.
This week, our Year 1 children enjoyed a delightful trip to Godstone Farm, where they encountered a variety of animals, including goats, alpacas, rheas, and tortoises. A particular highlight was meeting Ginny, the bearded dragon, whose surprisingly soft scales were a joy to feel!
Looking ahead, Year 2 will soon be visiting Hastings, where they will explore the charming old town, visit the RNLI lifeguard station, and round off the day with some traditional fish and chips on the beach. Let’s all hope for sunny skies!
Later this term, our Reception children will visit Biggin Hill Airport to deepen their learning on the topic of transport. This will beautifully follow their exciting hook day, where our school hall was transformed into a bustling airport – complete with luggage check-in and passport control!
These enriching outings are just a few of the many exciting events planned for this term. Our Summer Show preparations are also well underway, with children from Nursery through to Year 2 learning songs and lines, and classrooms buzzing with props and scenery. We can’t wait to welcome you to what promise to be fantastic performances!
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Warm regards
