Dear Parents
I hope you are all well.
It has been another busy week at school. Last Saturday, the day finally arrived for our budding musical stars to shine at Prep Idol. It was a fantastic evening, with the performers showing incredible talent and impressive courage to take to the hallowed stage of The Godden Green Arena and battle it out for the evening’s awards. A huge thank you to all the pupils who took part and to everyone who came along to support. I know that Mr Collings is, already, plotting next year’s spectacular…
Congratulations to our footballers who attended the competition run by the Chelsea Foundation at their Cobham training ground. The girls did brilliantly and you can read about their experience later in this newsletter.
Today is Golf Day, our annual event at Knole Park for parents and friends of the school to come together and enjoy a day on the course and a fine lunch afterwards, with money raised being put towards The Edward Oatley Fund. Good luck to everyone taking part in the event!
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
Best wishes
Luke Harrison
Dear Parents,
What a joy it has been to see the children enjoying their learning in the glorious sunshine this week. The warmer weather has given us the perfect opportunity to embrace more outdoor learning, and the children have loved exploring nature, working together and taking their classroom experiences into the fresh air. Whether it has been bug hunting in the garden, storytelling under the trees, or using natural materials in their play, the sunshine has certainly brought a spring to everyone’s step!
Looking ahead, we have a wonderfully busy and exciting day planned for next Friday, and we hope you will be able to join us for some, if not all, of the celebrations.
We begin the day by welcoming families to our much-loved Grandparents and Loved Ones Morning, where the children are always so proud to sing brightly in assembly, show their classrooms, share their work and introduce their special guests to their teachers and friends. It is a lovely chance to come together as a community and to celebrate the important role that extended family and friends play in our children’s lives.
This will be followed by the Year 2 Music Concert, which promises to be a delightful showcase of the children’s musical talents. The children have been working incredibly hard in their rehearsals and are very excited to perform. From beautiful singing to impressive instrumental pieces, it is sure to be a real treat.
Immediately after the concert, we will gather for the Opening Ceremony of Dickinson House, our brandnew wraparound care building for learning, playing and growing together. As I mentioned in my recent letter to families, Dickinson House represents much more than just bricks and mortar. It is a symbol of our school’s ongoing commitment to providing the very best spaces for children to thrive in. We are so looking forward to officially opening this wonderful space and celebrating the journey that brought us to this moment.
To round off the day, we have our traditional Maypole Dancing, which is always a highlight in the Pre-Prep calendar. The children have been practising their routines with great enthusiasm, and we cannot wait to see the colourful ribbons flying and hear the music as families gather to enjoy this joyful and timehonoured celebration of spring.
With so much to look forward to, we are ending this half of term with a real sense of excitement and togetherness. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
With warmest wishes,
Helen Cook
