Year 7&8 trip to Bletchley Park

Our Year 7 and Year 8 students recently went on an exciting educational adventure to Bletchley Park, the historic site that played a crucial role in code breaking during World War II.
Upon arrival, students were greeted with a fascinating introduction to the world of cryptography and the incredible individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help shorten the war. Touring the original huts and blocks, students stepped back in time to see the very locations where Alan Turing, Gordon Welchman and their teams cracked the Enigma code.
The highlight for many was the workshop led by the Bletchley Park education team, where students learned about the science and mathematics behind code breaking. With great enthusiasm, they worked in teams to break various codes and decipher messages, developing problem-solving and teamwork skills in the process. At the end they were even allowed to use a real 86-year old enigma machine.
Throughout the day, students were full of curiosity, asking insightful questions and embracing the chance to think critically and creatively — just like the codebreakers of Bletchley Park.
