Weekly Round Up 2nd May

2nd May 25

Dear Parents

I hope you are all well.

What a glorious start to Summer Term 2025: the sun is shining and it is great to have the pupils back at school after the Easter break.

I had the opportunity to join Years 7 and 8 this week on their trip to Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire to visit the site of the incredible code-breaking work done during World War 2. We had a guided tour, a lesson during which the pupils had to crack codes and saw many fascinating interactive displays. There was so much to see and absorb that I will certainly return for another visit.

It is wonderful to see our pupils out on the cricket pitches, honing their skills and building up to their first fixtures of the season. It will not be long before our annual Cricket Day is upon us – Saturday 7th June.

It would be remiss of me not to mention that Prep Idol 2025 takes place on Saturday 10th May. The pupils are very excited and busy rehearsing their numbers to perform at The Godden Green Arena (“The G2”), and Mr Collings is beside himself for his favourite evening of the year. I hope that you will be able to join us for what will, I am sure, be a spectacular event.

I hope that you all manage to have some time over the coming bank holiday weekend to relax and enjoy the glorious weather we have been predicted.

Best wishes

Luke Harrison

Dear Parents,

It has been such a joy to welcome the children back to school this week for the start of the summer term. The sun has shone brightly, and the glorious weather has lifted everyone’s spirits – a wonderful start to what promises to be a busy and exciting term ahead.

This week has been particularly special with not one, but two fantastic Hook Days that have truly brought our curriculum to life.

On Monday, Year 2 launched into their new topic with a brilliant Scotland Day. The children learned all about the geography and culture of Scotland, explored the different patterns of traditional tartan, and even tried their hand (and feet!) at some lively Scottish dancing. The day ended with some beautiful watercolour paintings, capturing the tranquillity of the Scottish landscape.

Then, on Tuesday, Reception went on one of our most extravagant adventures yet – a travel-themed Hook Day! Arriving at school with suitcases in hand, the children checked in at our very own airport, passed through ‘security’ and boarded a Virgin Atlantic flight, complete with cabin crew! It was a magical experience that set the scene for an exciting term of learning ahead.

Hook Days are such a powerful way to immerse children in their new topics. By creating these memorable experiences, we ignite their imaginations and set the stage for rich and enthusiastic writing in the weeks to come.

As always, the summer term is full of exciting events and activities. Please do refer to the key dates page sent out with last Friday’s Pre-Prep newsletter and ensure you have a copy to hand. We have also sent a separate reminder, but please make a note that our Pre-Prep Sports Day will take place on Friday 20th June.

Thank you for your continued support. I hope you have a restful and sunny weekend with your families.

With warmest wishes,

Helen Cook
