26th March 23
Dear Parents
I hope you are all well.
The end of term is upon us and what a packed final week it has been!
Memories of last Friday’s Culley Cup will linger long in the memory, not only because of the skilful play on show but also because none of us can ever remember such a muddy afternoon of sport! It reminded me of that famous photograph of England captain Fran Cotton from back in the 70s – you could not tell which team was which. This week, we have enjoyed the Year 2 rugby and hockey matches, and I am pleased to say that the weather was somewhat improved. To round things off, our U12 girls came second at the South East Regionals, where they competed against much larger senior schools – huge congratulations to them.
The production of “Oliver! Jr” by pupils from Years 5 and 6 was a tremendous success and I want to pass on my sincerest thanks to everyone involved – what a wonderful showcase for our talented performers at Sevenoaks Prep.
Thursday brought us the annual Year 7 / Year 2 Easter Bunny Bop and Egg Hunt – this is always a lovely event and one that enables our younger pupils to get to know their “buddies” as they approach the transition into Year 3.
On Friday, our Years 7 and 8 pupils leave for their ski trip and I have no doubt that they will have a fabulous time.
Thank you to all the staff who put so much time, energy and commitment into making these events
possible, and to you, the parent body, for being so supportive and enthusiastic.
I hope that you all manage to find time for some period of rest over the coming weeks and we look forward to welcoming you back for what will be a busy but thoroughly rewarding Summer Term 2023.
Best wishes
Luke Harrison
Dear Parents,
Year 2 were able to round off their spring term with a wonderful Spring Bunny Hop. They joined their Y7 buddies in the Centenary Centre to enjoy some Easter treats as well as join in the Easter tradition of the Easter Bunny Bop! They had a fabulous time, and it allows them the opportunity to do some fabulous transition work with their buddies in preparation for their move to Year 3 in September.
Reception class enjoyed their visit to St Nicholas’ Church in Sevenoaks on Thursday morning. It was a morning full of fact finding and find the children really enjoyed their tour of the church as well as learning more about the true meaning of Easter. The children were able to look at the Bible, hear a children’s abridged Bible story and learn all about baptism. The teachers were so proud of how well the children listened and behaved.
Year 2 also went out this week on a cultural visit to Chatham Memorial Synagogue to enhance their learning of Judaism. They were able to enter the synagogue wearing a Kippah and Talit and got to look at copies of the Torah. They also tasted Matzah and learnt about the traditions of Passover celebrations.
I had the pleasure of going to watch the Middle School Play this week. They put on a fabulous performance of Oliver Jnr! The singing, dancing and acting was superb, and it is amazing to see how mature the children have become since they left the Pre-Prep.
I do hope that you are all able to enjoy a relaxing Easter break and you do not end up with mountains of chocolate eggs!
Best wishes,
Helen Cook
