Dear Parents
If the past fortnight has taught us anything, it is that life at Sevenoaks Prep shows no sign of slowing down – and we wouldn’t want it any other way! From the dazzling spectacle of Prep Idol (where bravery, talent and questionable staff choreography all made an appearance) to the wonderfully thoughtful celebrations marking Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, the School has been buzzing with creativity, courage and curiosity.
Our pupils have sung, cycled, climbed, painted, planted, bowled, batted and occasionally dodged the rain, all while throwing themselves wholeheartedly into events that remind us what a vibrant and generous community this is. Particular highlights included Choir’s inspiring musical performance at the IAPS event at Benenden School and a packed sporting calendar that has seen determination, teamwork and good humour on display in equal measure. By the time you read this, Golf Day will be in full swing (forgive the pun!) at Knole Park!
None of this happens by accident. My sincere thanks go to the staff who have organised, supported and delivered such a rich programme – often behind the scenes, sometimes on stage, and always with professionalism and enthusiasm.
I hope you enjoy reading more about these moments in the pages that follow.
Best wishes
Luke Harrison
Dear Parents and Carers
We have enjoyed a truly wonderful week in the Pre-Prep. A particular highlight was celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday—such a special and significant occasion. The children came to school dressed as wild animals or inspired by nature, bringing along their favourite teddy bears for our “Sir David Atten-bear’s Picnic” on the lawn. It was a joyful and memorable way to mark the day.
Sir David Attenborough has inspired generations with his remarkable documentaries, bringing the natural world to life through breathtaking footage of some of the most extraordinary places and rarest creatures on Earth. His work continues to shape our teaching, inspiring activities such as creative writing, role play, and learning about the environment in meaningful and engaging ways. We were also delighted to be featured in The Chronicle, our local Sevenoaks newspaper. Building on their enthusiasm, the children have shown a wonderful commitment to caring for the planet by adopting an animal through the WWF.
The excitement continued with fantastic science workshops led by Gooey Stewy from FizzPop. The children were captivated by bubbles, explosions, slime-making, and even a candle used to pop a balloon! It was a brilliant combination of fun and hands-on learning, sparking curiosity and delight in equal measure.
As we head into the final week of term, we are looking forward to a busy and celebratory few days. We are excited to welcome you for our music concerts, Grandparents and Loved Ones Day, and, of course, our charming Maypole dancing in the afternoon. We look forward to sharing these special moments with you.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Best Wishes
Shannon Wake
