Bushcraft

Last week Years 7 and 8 embarked on their Bushcraft adventure, heading to Boughton Woods, deep in the forests of Northamptonshire. They had a brilliant time learning essential survival skills, from safely building fires and preparing their own meals to handling knives responsibly. The children also honed their first aid skills and constructed shelters, all culminating in a thrilling SOS scenario to put their newfound abilities to the test and help them survive in the great outdoors!

Living outside certainly works up an appetite so food is always important at Bushcraft! Meals ranged from spaghetti bolognese to spicy curries, made even tastier when eaten in the sunshine. The week gives our eldest students the chance to bond, challenge themselves beyond their comfort zones and build their resilience. It is a wonderful opportunity to develop both their leadership and team-building skills as they prepare for the responsibilities of being at the top of the school.

‏Bushcraft has grown into a much-anticipated tradition for our senior students. Many alumni fondly recall their adventures and it was wonderful to see this year’s group having fun, forming strong bonds, and creating lasting memories together.
