Scottish Day!

Year 2 had a blast with a full day of immersion into Scottish culture. After creating their own clan tartans, the four clans competed against one another in the Highland Games (toss the caber, haggis hurl, sheaf toss and welly throw), learned how to ‘Strip the Willow’ and then refuelled with a food tasting experience consisting of Cock-a-Leekie, cheesy oatmeal scones, neeps and tatties and shortbread.

They learned how to create tartan by weaving their own designs on paper and finished the day with a masterclass in painting a Scottish scene in watercolour, using oil pastels to superimpose a castle onto a mountainous lochside.

Altogether, the day was ‘braw’!
