Year 8 had an amazing experience last week while camping amidst the breathtaking Blenheim Woods. They actively engaged in various Bushcraft activities, including constructing shelters, practicing archery, mastering axe throwing, experiencing sleeping under the open sky, and trying their hand at wild cooking. On Thursday, they not only prepared their own meals but honed their knife skills, tackled camouflage challenges and participated in an emergency first aid scenario. To top it all off, they also rehearsed for their ‘Tribes Got Talent’ performance that night!
We were delighted to receive glowing feedback from the camp leaders, who were highly impressed by our students’ exemplary behaviour. Loveliest of all was witnessing them function as a tight-knit community rather than just a group from school.
Bushcraft has become a cherished tradition for our Year 8 students, with our alumni frequently reminiscing about the memorable experiences during this week away. Moreover, this is the time of year when staff and Year 8 vote for our new Heads of School as well as prefects so the week provides a valuable opportunity for our eldest students to refine their leadership skills in preparation for their new roles in the next few weeks.
